"account": "In the 2026 US midterm elections, Abdul El-Sayed, an Egyptian-American progressive Democrat, has declared victory in the race for Michigan's Senate seat, marking a historic moment as the first Muslim elected to the Senate. Although the Associated Press has not officially declared the race, Fox News and other outlets have followed suit. El-Sayed will succeed retiring Democratic Senator Gary Peters. In his victory speech, he expressed pride and honor at being named the next senator-elect. He acknowledged overcoming Islamophobic slurs directed at him by US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance. El-Sayed also addressed parents, assuring them that \"the bad guys lost\" after their children were exposed to the president's mockery of someone's name or religious practices.",
