"account": "US President Donald Trump has confirmed American forces struck an Iranian air-defense facility on Qeshm Island, stating it was a \"limited military action\" rather than a return to full-scale war. According to Trump, Washington had monitored the construction of the facility for about two months before attacking it upon completion. The operation took place as the facility was being built, with US officials describing the strikes as defensive, citing Iranian forces' use of surface-to-air missiles against American military assets. Qeshm Island, Iran's largest island in the Arabian Gulf near the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, holds significant military, maritime, and energy importance. Iran's response includes condemnation of the attack and warnings of retaliation, while President Masoud Pezeshkian maintains that diplomacy remains possible. The situation remains unpredictable, with potential for further US operations, retaliatory strikes, maritime security warnings, and progress in Qatar-mediated negotiations.",
