"account": "A 29-year-old tricycle driver from Wa Municipality, Naah Mashood, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison with hard labor for sexually abusing a three-year-old girl, according to prosecutors. The victim's mother reported the incident to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Upper West Regional Police Command on February 24, 2026. Police claims the defendant, hired by the parents to transport the child to and from school, lured the victim to an isolated area on February 23, 2026, and committed the assault inside his tricycle, known as 'Camboo'. Following investigations, Mashood was brought before the Wa District Magistrate Court and later tried at the Wa High Court. On October 30, 2026, Justice Osei-Wusu declared him guilty and imposed the 14-year sentence. The police command commended the officers involved in the case and urged parents to be vigilant about their children's safety, advising them to report any suspected child abuse or defilement to the nearest police station or DOVVSU office. The command emphasized its commitment to protecting children and ensuring that those who commit sexual offenses face justice.",
