"summary": "The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) uncovered an illegal oil refinery in the Ogere area of Ogun State. According to Punch Nigeria, the facility was allegedly operated by Chinese nationals and was discovered on Saturday, October 31, 2026, by operatives from the commission's Lagos Zonal Directorate 2.\n\nThe operation followed intelligence gathering and surveillance regarding the activities of illegal sludge oil refiners. Punch Nigeria reports that the refinery was deserted when operatives arrived at the premises, which follows a previous crackdown on four illegal lithium processing plants in the same area. During the raid, operatives discovered waste products from the refining process and underground tanks suspected of being used for processing and heating sludge oil.",
