"account": "US President Donald Trump announced that the United States will cease providing Israel with $4 billion in annual military aid starting in 2027, according to Reuters. Trump explained that the decision was based on a prior agreement he made with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who reportedly stated that Israel no longer required the aid. The president added that while military sales and other forms of defense cooperation would continue, Israel would be free to purchase weapons from other countries as well. The current memorandum of understanding between the US and Israel, which expires in 2028, includes $3.3 billion in foreign military financing and $500 million in cooperative missile defense programs. In May, Israel's defense ministry announced that talks had begun with the US on a new framework of security cooperation, with a focus on joint investment in research, development, and weapons production. This shift from aid to a more reciprocal partnership was reportedly discussed in a report by the Congressional Research Service in July.",
