"summary": "CITAD, the Centre for Information Technology and Development, has unveiled two new digital communication applications, dComms and DANCIT, aimed at promoting online privacy, digital rights, and local technological innovation in Nigeria. The applications are designed as alternatives to mainstream social media and messaging platforms, addressing growing concerns over data privacy, surveillance, online harassment, and the commercial exploitation of users' personal information. The initiative, supported by the Association for Progressive Communications (APC), seeks to provide users with greater flexibility and reduce dependence on dominant technology companies through the decentralised approach of the Fediverse.",
