"account": "Pakistan is home to 100 million WhatsApp users, who collectively send approximately 12 billion messages daily, according to data provided by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman, Major General (retd.) Hafeez ur Rehman. During a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecom, the PTA Chairman presented an overview of the country's social media and digital communication landscape. He highlighted that WhatsApp boasts around 100 million subscribers in Pakistan, with daily messaging activity reaching an impressive 12 billion messages. This information emerged as committee members expressed significant concerns about the quality of telecom services in the country, including unreliable mobile networks and frequent call disruptions. One committee member specifically raised the issue of WhatsApp calls frequently being disconnected, even in major cities like Islamabad, questioning the ability of telecom companies to enhance services when users in urban areas were experiencing connectivity problems. The PTA Chairman acknowledged that there is ample room for improvement in Pakistan's telecom services. He revealed that the regulator had conducted inspections of mobile towers and visited 41 districts in collaboration with telecom operators to identify issues affecting network quality. He identified electricity outages as a major obstacle to enhancing telecom services, stating that better power availability could significantly improve network performance.",
