"account": "The Federal Capital Territory Police in Abuja have arrested two suspects suspected of vandalising armoured cable infrastructure. The suspects, Sagir Abubakar and Seidu Umar Bello, were apprehended during a routine police patrol in the Guzape area. The arrest occurred around 1:30 am on October 31, 2026, after police observed a suspicious Lexus SUV and Toyota Sienna. As the officers approached the vehicles, the suspects fled, but one was eventually caught and the other was apprehended on foot. A subsequent search revealed several pieces of armoured cable, cut into fragments. Sagir Abubakar is believed to be part of a criminal gang targeting isolated locations in the FCT. Investigations are ongoing to identify additional gang members and determine the full scope of their operations. The suspects are currently in police custody and will be charged to court once the investigation is complete.
