"account": "South African National Taxi Council (Santaco) president Abnar Tsebe denounced taxi violence and gender-based violence (GBV) at a National Prayer Day event held in KwaZulu-Natal. During the gathering, Santaco members, including deputy transport minister Mkhuleko Hlengwa, discussed the need for change and addressed various issues, such as drug abuse and road accidents. President Tsebe emphasized the critical importance of arresting those responsible for violence in the industry, urging all departments, including the Department of Police, to take action. Tragedies throughout the week, including the loss of 20 lives due to taxi-related violence in the Western Cape, underscored the urgent need for action. Santaco's president highlighted the importance of educating both boys and girls to combat GBV and warned that the taxi industry, largely male-dominated, must prioritize the safety and protection of women, both as operators and entrepreneurs. He announced the creation of a digital whistle, a mobile application that can be used to alert police and nearby security when in danger, with a response time of 10 minutes. Tsebe urged the public to continue praying for change and to stop the cycle of violence in the taxi industry.",
