"summary": "China’s state broadcaster CCTV has decided not to air a Real Madrid match against Racing Santander despite Kylian Mbappé’s apology for his controversial remarks about Mao Zedong. The decision came after the Chinese Media Group (CMG), CCTV’s parent organisation, announced it would suspend broadcasts of Spanish La Liga matches due to widespread backlash over Mbappé’s comments. Mbappé initially made insensitive remarks about Mao during an interview, leading to anger in China, where Mao remains a highly sensitive historical figure. After Mbappé apologized, Real Madrid and La Liga also issued apologies, but CMG has not yet announced when it will resume coverage. This incident reflects the potential commercial consequences for international sports figures and organisations when their comments clash with China’s political sensitivities.",
