"account": "Michigan Democrat Haley Stevens has endorsed Republican Mike Rogers in a key US Senate race, giving President Donald Trump's Republicans an unexpected boost ahead of the midterm elections. Stevens lost the Democratic primary to Abdul El-Sayed in a contentious race and appeared with Rogers at a Detroit church, causing divisions in the state. Trump invited Stevens to join the Republican Party, praising her endorsement as a \"smart thing to do\" because El-Sayed would \"destroy our country.\" Despite the endorsement, Stevens' campaign faced backlash, with some of her staff resigning in shock and heartbreak over her decision. The outcome of the race, along with others across the country, could determine control of Congress and impact President Trump's final two years in office.",
