"summary": "The Island Sri Lanka reports that CCTV cameras will be installed at every police station nationwide to enhance monitoring and oversight of police activities. Police Media Spokesman ASP F.U. Wootler announced that procurement for the project is underway, and arrangements will be made to monitor police stations through footage recorded by the cameras. The move aims to increase transparency and accountability, especially concerning the treatment of suspects in police custody. However, no deadline for completion or specifics on the central monitoring system's operation have been provided. The announcement coincides with heightened public scrutiny following incidents involving deaths and alleged mistreatment of suspects in police custody.",
