"account": "Debutant team Tonic FC of Ikorodu claimed the title of 1XCup 2026 champions, defeating Young Strikers of Lagos Island 4-2 on penalty shootouts. Both teams played to a goalless draw in regulation time and added time. Tonic's goalkeeper played a crucial role by saving two penalty kicks for Young Strikers. Although Young Strikers were the better team, their poor finishing resulted in them receiving a consolation N5million prize. Tonic's victory marked a successful knockout campaign, including a 2–1 win over Joy Cometh FC and a 2–1 triumph over JP Young Stars in the semi-finals. Odion Ighalo, a former Nigeria and Manchester United forward, praised the tournament for its support in discovering Nigeria's future football stars and urged for improved infrastructure and support for football and sports.",
