"summary": "Martha Stewart has issued a statement following backlash regarding her Halloween costume, which depicted her as an unhoused person. According to reports from TheWrap and Variety, the costume featured tattered or ripped clothing and a sign reading, “I am hungry. Help me!!” Variety also noted the use of dirt-inspired face makeup. Stewart has since deleted the image.\n\nIn response to the criticism, Stewart stated that her intention was to raise awareness for the serious issue of homelessness in the United States. She expressed distress that the costume offended people, noting that such an outcome was never her intention. Stewart described homelessness as one of America's greatest challenges and an ongoing crisis that she cares deeply about. She further noted her commitment to supporting charities that combat the social epidemic and making a difference.",
