"summary": "Director Michael Mann was hospitalized with minor injuries after accidentally shooting himself in the leg at a Los Angeles gun range on Saturday. According to statements from his representative, a weapon accidentally discharged while holstered, resulting in a superficial, subcutaneous injury. While the Toronto Sun and Gulf News characterize the injury as minor, IGN reports the incident occurred on Halloween.\n\nThe 83-year-old filmmaker was treated and is in the process of being released from the hospital. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the accidental shooting occurred at a gun range. TMZ reported that the incident took place around 4 p.m. at The Range LA during target practice. Mann is described by his representatives and IGN as an experienced shooter.\n\nMann is currently working on a sequel to his 1995 film Heat. While the film was previously expected to begin filming in November, The A.V. Club reports that star Stephen Graham recently stated production is now starting in January. Mann's recent directorial work includes the film Ferrari.",
