"account": "Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticized the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC-PCC) for celebrating policy documents and financial interventions, rather than delivering on promises to improve Nigeria's electricity supply. The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) challenged the APC-PCC's defense of President Bola Tinubu's electricity pledge, arguing that laws, bonds, and project announcements cannot power homes and businesses. Atiku stated that three and a half years after Tinubu's promise of steady power and an end to estimated billing, Nigerians continue to struggle with unreliable electricity, rising tariffs, and the cost of alternative power sources. He questioned the electricity band system, citing high tariffs under Band A and the lack of improvements in supply. Atiku demanded clarity on the Federal Government's plan to end electricity subsidies by 2027 and proposed abolishing the band system in favor of a fairer, more affordable framework. He accused the Tinubu administration of not building new generation infrastructure and paying off old debts instead of investing in power generation.",
