"account": "Two women lost their lives and multiple others sustained injuries in a devastating multi-vehicle collision on the N1 highway near Modimolle on Sunday. The Transport Department confirmed the fatalities, with the women pronounced dead at the scene. Three individuals suffered serious injuries - two males and a female - while a male endured critical injuries and required emergency airlift by helicopter. A fourth woman sustained only minor injuries.\n\nAccording to preliminary reports, the initial collision occurred between a Toyota SUV and a Kia sedan, a head-on crash just prior to the Modimolle off-ramp. The impact triggered a second head-on collision as other drivers attempted to steer clear of the initial wreckage. This second crash involved a Kia Picanto and an Audi.\n\nEmergency response teams were on the scene, with the N1 North closed and detour routes established. All parties were working to manage the situation. The N1 North was shut down from the Kranskop Toll Plaza, with traffic redirected via the R33 through Modimolle town and onto the R101. Drivers were strongly advised to exercise extreme caution, adhere to diversion signs, and anticipate delays in the area. Further updates would be issued as they became available.",
