"account": "Nigerian army troops, working alongside Nigerian Navy Lake Chad personnel and the Civilian Joint Task Force, discovered and safely detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) along the Baga-Cross road in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State, according to security sources. The incident occurred around 7:45 a.m. on October 29, 2026, when troops from the 403 Amphibious Brigade found the explosive device during a main supply route scanning operation. An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was then deployed to the location and successfully neutralized the IED in situ. The operation effectively prevented the explosive device from posing any further threat to troops and other road users along the Baga-Cross road. Security personnel are continuing ongoing route-clearance and surveillance operations to detect and neutralize potential explosive threats within the area.",
