"account": "Nigerian Samson Adamu has been appointed as the new General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the continental football governing body announced on Sunday. Adamu had previously served as the acting General Secretary since March, following Veron Mosengo-Omba's resignation and his subsequent appointment as the President of the football federation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). CAF President Patrice Motsepe revealed that the decision to appoint Adamu resulted from a thorough recruitment process, which involved publicly advertising the position and conducting interviews with multiple candidates.\n\nAdamu's tenure at CAF spans the past eight years, during which he held the positions of Director of Competitions, Director of Tournaments, and Director of Events. His father, Amos Adamu, was a member of FIFA's Executive Committee until being banned in 2010 for violating bribery regulations. CAF has seen General Secretaries from the same family for three generations, starting with Mourad Fahmy, who held the position from 1961 to 1982, followed by his son Mustapha Fahmy from 1982 to 2010, and their grandson Amr Fahmy from 2017 to 2019.",
