"summary": "Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has addressed allegations that he carried a placard in protest against former President Goodluck Jonathan. Speaking to his congregation during a church service, Adeboye denied ever leading or participating in a protest against any government, stating his role is to pray for those in authority.\n\nPunch Nigeria reports that Adeboye accused journalists of misrepresenting the timing of an incident involving a placard, alleging that reports falsely linked it to the Jonathan administration. Adeboye stated the event occurred in 2020, five years after Jonathan left office, and was a prayer walk organized to pray against insecurity and killings in the country.\n\nDaily Post Nigeria notes that Adeboye clarified the event was actually a march against corruption rather than an attempt to discredit the former president. Premium Times reports that these clarifications came amid allegations that his current support for President Tinubu and his administration is based on their shared Yoruba heritage despite the country's worsening situation.",
