"summary": "The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has cautioned universities against admitting more PhD students than they can supervise, warning that this could undermine the quality and credibility of PhD education in Ghana. The Director-General of GTEC, Professor Ahmed Abdulai Jinapor, emphasized the importance of doctoral education in producing future researchers, lecturers, and policy thinkers, but stressed that any expansion of doctoral programmes must be matched by sufficient qualified supervisors, research facilities, library resources, and funding. Jinapor urged universities to prioritize quality over quantity in postgraduate education and to adapt to the demands of a technology-driven economy, while ensuring that online degrees carry the same value as campus-based qualifications.",
