"summary": "Meta Platforms has developed a humanoid robot prototype named Max in collaboration with the Chinese robotics startup Fourier. According to The Information, the prototype was built in approximately three months and stands about 1.5 metres tall, weighing roughly 106 pounds. The robot features five-fingered hands for handling small objects, built-in speakers, and a display that can mimic facial expressions. It utilizes an Nvidia Jetson Thor chip.\n\nMeta's robotics team traveled to China to work with Fourier, with Li-Chen Miller, the vice president of product for robotics, spending nearly two months at the startup's factory in Shanghai. The Max prototype was demonstrated to employees at an internal robotics summit in late August.\n\nDevelopment of a second prototype, named Max 2, began in September. Investing.com reports that this updated version is expected to include a redesigned torso, improved hands, a projector, and extra sensors to assist with navigating stairs. Meta has stated it has no plans to sell these units.",
