"account": "The Zamfara State Police Command announced the discovery of over 30 decomposed bodies of suspected bandits during clearance operations in the state. According to a statement released on Saturday by DSP Yazid Abubakar, the operation targeted bandits in Bukkuyum Local Government Area. The operation began on October 28, 2026, following an attempted attack on Bukkuyum town by armed bandits. Security forces repelled the attack, preventing the bandits from advancing into the town. Following the confrontation, more than 30 bodies believed to be those of neutralized bandits were found in nearby farmlands, suggesting that the attackers sustained significant casualties. Police noted that armed bandits often remove their wounded from battle sites, but the exact number of casualties requires further verification. The successful defense of Bukkuyum town protected it from potential loss of lives and property destruction. Preliminary assessments suggest that the sustained pressure may have caused some remaining bandits to leave the state. The Zamfara State Police Command pledged to continue operations in collaboration with other security agencies and stakeholders to eradicate armed criminal elements, restore public confidence, and ensure residents' safety and security.",
