"account": "The U.S. Department of State has given the green light for a potential sale of 500 PAC-3 MSE missiles to Ukraine, with a value of around $2.1 billion, according to UATV English. The funding for this purchase will be provided by Ukraine's allies and partners. Ukraine had requested 500 Patriot missiles, along with spare parts, related equipment, and logistical and software support services. The State Department stated that the proposed sale would enhance Ukraine's integrated air and missile defense system and aid in the ongoing operation of its existing Patriot systems against aerial threats. This purchase will be financed by contributions from Canada, Germany, and Norway through the JUMPSTART program, as well as national funds secured via a European Union loan to assist Ukraine. The U.S. will not utilize any of its funds for the procurement. Lockheed Martin, based in Bethesda, Maryland, has been selected as the main contractor. This approval comes as Ukraine continues to request more ammunition for its air defense systems. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently mentioned that Kyiv has been awaiting U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth's approval for deliveries of missiles for Patriot and NASAMS systems for nearly a month.",
