"account": "PETALING JAYA: Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh faces a direct opponent in the form of Rahayu Hamzah from Pakatan Harapan, as he campaigns for re-election as the Merlimau assemblyman. The Merlimau constituency predominantly comprises Malay voters, with a smaller proportion of Chinese and Indian voters. Akmal initially secured his position in 2021, winning by a margin of 3,248 votes, thus maintaining Umno's hold on the BN-dominated area. He was subsequently appointed a member of the state executive council, focusing on health matters before transitioning to oversee rural development, agriculture, and food security in 2023. Notably, Dr Akmal assumed the leadership of the Umno Youth in 2023, outpacing three other candidates to assume this role.",
