"account": "Michigan's Democratic coalition is fracturing in the days leading up to a crucial Senate election, according to POLITICO. Former primary rivals Abdul El-Sayed and Rep. Haley Stevens, who narrowly defeated each other in August, are now sniping at each other. El-Sayed's campaign is asking Stevens to refrain from future campaign events in order to avoid distracting from key issues, according to sources familiar with the situation. The spat comes as Democrats are desperate to unite behind El-Sayed and maintain control of a pivotal Senate seat, which is currently held by retiring Democratic Sen. Gary Peters. The two candidates had appeared together for a post-primary unity breakfast, but had not campaigned together since then. El-Sayed's campaign declined to comment on the matter. Democrats are frustrated by the infighting, which they believe could cost them the state in a year when the party can least afford it. Some Democrats have tried to downplay the conflict, emphasizing the need to focus on beating Republican Mike Rogers in the November election.",
