"account": "Nigerian international footballer Taiwo Awoniyi recently received the prestigious 'Beyond the Pitch' Award from the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) at the 2026 Best of Africa Awards in London. The award recognizes Awoniyi’s use of his global platform to drive social change and uplift his home communities. Born in Ilorin, Kwara State, Awoniyi’s foundation, the Taiwo Awoniyi Foundation, has been instrumental in transforming grassroots football in his home region. As Chairman of the Kwara Kiddies League, Awoniyi provides structured, sustainable opportunities for over 500 young talents, funding everything from playing kits and training equipment to nutritional support and substantial cash prizes. The foundation’s latest philanthropic effort includes donating brand-new football boots to 350 young players participating in the Kwara Kiddies League, a gesture aimed at providing the basic tools needed to develop their skills and pursue their athletic ambitions. The London award coincided with this local initiative, highlighting Awoniyi’s commitment to bridging the gap between Nigerian talent and the global football market. Through strategic funding, the Kwara Kiddies League has secured subscriptions to Wyscout and Eyeball, allowing European scouts to view match footage and player metrics remotely. This technological advancement ensures that young players in Ilorin have a clear pathway to international opportunities. In a heartfelt statement, Awoniyi emphasized that the true measure of success is not personal wealth but the transformation of communities. He expressed gratitude for the award, stating, \"Life can give you so much, but what truly matters is what you choose to do with what you’ve been given.\"",
