"account": "The U.S. government has approved a proposed $2.1 billion sale of Patriot air defense interceptors to Ukraine, according to officials. The weapons are crucial for defending against Russian ballistic missiles, a need highlighted by Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who claimed his country had nearly exhausted its stock of the vital munitions. The Pentagon had faced accusations from Kyiv of delaying the delivery of these missiles. However, Ukraine has since reported the restoration of Starlink satellite internet service and an end to disruptions in U.S. intelligence, which had previously warned of incoming Russian attacks. The State Department clarified that 500 Patriot missiles are being purchased for Ukraine, with contributions from Canada, Germany, and Norway via a U.S. program, and specifically emphasized that no American funds were used in the transaction.",
"summary": "WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration said Friday that it has approved a proposed $2.1 billion sale of Patriot air defense interceptors for Ukraine after Kyiv had accused the Pentagon of delaying delivery of the vital munition needed to stop Russian ballistic missiles.",
