"account": "The United States has authorized the sale of 500 Patriot missiles to Ukraine, essential defense weaponry against intensifying Russian aerial assaults. The deal, valued at $2.1bn (£1.6bn), will be funded by Ukraine's allies in Europe, Canada, and through national and EU-backed funds. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has long pleaded with the US to expedite missile deliveries, which are crucial for intercepting Russia's deadly ballistic missiles. The sale's approval arrives amid tensions between Zelensky and former US President Donald Trump, who suggested Ukraine might benefit from a new leader to end the conflict with Russia. The State Department emphasized that this sale aligns with US foreign policy and national security goals, enhancing the security of a partner nation that contributes to political and economic stability in Europe. The primary contractor for the project is American firm Lockheed Martin, and no US funds are directly involved. However, Ukraine's urgent need for the Patriots is underscored by Russia's escalating attacks on Ukrainian regions and infrastructure. Despite the shortage of Patriots worldwide, due to their utilization in the US-Iran conflict, the order is for new builds, with limited annual production (600 missiles) and lengthy production times, suggesting a delayed delivery timeline to Ukraine.",
