"account": "The Chicago Cubs are exploring the possibility of acquiring two-time Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom as part of their offseason plans to bolster their pitching rotation, according to a recent report on Bleacher Report. The Cubs are seeking to improve their pitching rotation, with deGrom being a prime candidate for a potential trade. In exchange, the Cubs are reportedly willing to part with pitcher Justin Steele and prospect catcher Owen Ayers, as well as offer cash from Texas Rangers. DeGrom's performance dipped in 2026, posting an 11-11 record and a 4.20 ERA in 31 starts for the Texas Rangers, but he had a stellar 2025 season with a 12-8 record and a 2.97 ERA. Given his impressive track record, including an ERA under 4.00 in each of his previous 12 MLB seasons, deGrom's potential return to form makes him an intriguing target for the Cubs.",
