"account": "New York governor Kathy Hochul announced on Thursday that state police will take over future sexual assault investigations at Cornell University, following criticism of the university's handling of an alleged gang-rape case. The agreement between state police and Cornell University will see complaints referred to state police for criminal investigation unless requested otherwise by the accuser. Hochul emphasized the importance of survivors being heard, treated with compassion, and knowing their allegations will be taken seriously and investigated thoroughly. The case involves Jane Doe, who alleged she was drugged and gang-raped by members of a Cornell fraternity in October 2024. No criminal charges were filed, despite the university expelling or disciplining several students involved. Cornell's Faculty Senate is currently voting on a non-binding resolution of no confidence in the university administration regarding its response to sexual assault claims.",
