"account": "Defense attorneys representing former FBI officials Nikki Floris and Bradley Benavides argued for the dismissal of a criminal complaint accusing the pair of making false statements to Congress about Hunter Biden. The defense lawyers contend the case is politically motivated and an overt attempt to appease President Donald Trump ahead of the midterms. The hearing included testimony that the investigation was ordered by FBI Director Kash Patel and sparked shortly after a speech by Trump amplifying election falsehoods. The defense asserts there is no proof their clients knowingly misled and that any potentially false statements were the result of confusion or faulty memory. U.S. Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui has yet to rule on the defense's request.",
