"account": "Mohamed Sabry Soliman, a 47-year-old Egyptian national, pleaded guilty on Thursday to federal hate-crime charges in connection with a gasoline bomb attack at a pro-Israel rally in Colorado last June. Soliman, who is already serving a life sentence for over 100 state charges, including first-degree murder, admitted to throwing two Molotov cocktails at the crowd. The attack, which occurred on June 1, 2025, during a rally in Boulder in solidarity with Palestinians, resulted in the death of an 82-year-old woman, Karen Diamond, and injuries to 29 others, including 15 who were considered potential murder victims. Soliman claimed his actions were motivated by his opposition to the Jewish religion and Israeli national origin of the rally's attendees. He pleaded guilty to nine counts of hate-crime offenses and three explosives charges, with the federal government declining to seek the death penalty. His next sentencing is scheduled for January 7.",
