"account": "Former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has urged Governor Hope Uzodimma to resign if he intends to run for Senate. Uzodimma made this request in an interview on Thursday, addressing questions on Channels Television's Politics Today. Okorocha clarified that Uzodimma cannot simultaneously hold the positions of governor and a senatorial candidate. In May 2027, Uzodimma is set to begin his Senate term, while he will serve as governor until January 2028. Okorocha argued that Uzodimma is profiting from a dual-role situation, earning a salary as governor while actively pursuing another paid role as a senator. The governor maintains that he is still receiving payment from his current position while seeking the new position of senator, which he believes goes against the principles of public service. Okorocha further stated that if Uzodimma desires to pursue a Senate career, he should step down from the Governorship role immediately and allow the people of Imo to elect a new governor. This statement came shortly after the Federal High Court in Abuja overturned Uzodimma's APC senatorial ticket for Imo West and declared Okorocha as the genuine candidate. Justice Obiora Egwuatu ruled that the APC must submit Okorocha's name to INEC.",
