"account": "Former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha hailed a Federal High Court's decision that overturned the All Progressives Congress (APC) selection of Hope Uzodimma as the party's senatorial candidate for Imo West in the 2027 general election. Okorocha had contested the decision, arguing that he was the rightful candidate and questioning the constitutionality of Uzodimma contesting the election while still serving as governor, whose term is set to end in January 2028. The court ruled in Okorocha's favor, declaring him the lawful winner of the primary and ordering the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to publish his name as the party's candidate. The judge also restrained Uzodimma from claiming the APC nomination, stating that he had not won the May 18, 2026 primary monitored by INEC. Okorocha praised the judiciary, democracy, and the Nigerian Constitution for this landmark decision, thanking the people of Imo State for their support and President Bola Tinubu for fostering an enabling environment for institutions to function.",
