"account": "England footballer Harry Kane claimed the 2026 Ballon d'Or title, narrowly edging out France's Kylian Mbappé by a margin smaller than 41 points, according to Ballon d'Or organizers. The exact point difference has not been disclosed, but Vincent Garcia, editor-in-chief of France Football, confirmed the margin was narrower than 41 points, the gap between Rodri and Vinicius Junior in 2024. Kane, a Bayern Munich striker, scored 73 goals in the 2025/26 season, while Mbappé, a Paris Saint-Germain player, did not provide a comparable tally. This victory marks the first time an Englishman won the men's Ballon d'Or in 25 years, since Michael Owen's win in 2001. The award is determined by an international jury of journalists, evaluating players' individual performances, team achievements, and personal qualities. The 2026 Ballon d'Or result joins other closely contested editions, such as Messi's win over Virgil van Dijk in 2019 and Rodri's victory over Vinicius Junior in 2024.",
