"summary": "Ghana's Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam George, has been unanimously elected as Chair of the African Union’s Specialised Technical Committee on Communication and Information and Communications Technology (AU STC-CICT) for a two-year term starting in October 2026. The confirmation took place at the committee's ministerial session in Libreville, Gabon, and positions Ghana at the forefront of efforts to advance digital transformation and strengthen cybersecurity cooperation across Africa. In accepting the role, George emphasized the responsibility it carries for the entire African Union rather than being a privilege for Ghana alone, and pledged to focus on connectivity, data governance, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence as key priorities for the committee's work over the next two years.",
