"account": "Commodore Omatseye Nesiama (rtd) and Prof. Jeff Okpako, representing the GCU Relays, have wrapped up the final inspection of the Government College Ughelli Athletics Arena. This inspection encompassed the tartan track, as entries for the eighth edition of the Intercollegiate Meet have closed for November 14th, 2026. Notable legacy schools participating include Edo College, Idia College, Benin, and Federal Government College, Warri. The Technical Inspection Team reported on the current condition of the tracks and the necessary repairs needed, particularly highlighting dangerous potholes and erosion affecting lane one. They emphasized the urgent need for these issues to be addressed before the event to ensure athlete safety. Nesiama expressed optimism about the project, stating that efforts are underway to commission experts for the repairs, especially on the critical home straight where all races will conclude.",
