"account": "The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has charged a Halton Regional Police officer in connection with a 2025 police pursuit that resulted in a serious injury. On March 12, 2025, officers were investigating two thefts - a Kia Sedona and a GMC Hummer - in Oakville. They located both vehicles in the vicinity of Upper Middle Road and Trafalgar Road and attempted to stop them. Sgt. Joseph led the pursuit, which led to a collision between the Hummer and a tractor-trailer at Winston Churchill Boulevard and Lakeshore Road East. The 26-year-old driver of the Hummer was seriously injured and arrested. Sgt. Joseph faces a charge of dangerous operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm. He is set to appear in a Milton court on November 23. The SIU is an independent agency that investigates potential misconduct by police officials resulting in death, serious injury, sexual assault, or firearm discharge.",
