"account": "In September 2026, speed testing company Ookla reported that Qatar maintained its top position in the world for mobile internet speeds. The median download speed in the country was 526.41 Mbps, an impressive figure that has been consistent since August of the previous year. The median upload speed in Qatar was 31.85 Mbps, while latency was measured at 20 milliseconds.\n\nThe country's fixed broadband speed of 235.57 Mbps also contributed to its high standing globally. According to Ookla's report, the city of Al Rayyan was the second-fastest city worldwide for mobile internet speeds and sixth for fixed broadband performance in September 2026.\n\nThe International Telecommunication Union (ITU) also ranked Qatar among the top countries with the highest scores in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Development Index (IDI) 2026. Qatar achieved a score of 98.4 out of 100, placing it sixth among 159 economies assessed.\n\nThe Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) in Qatar credited the country's success to its supportive regulatory environment, which encourages investment and innovation while advancing telecommunications infrastructure. The ITU's ICT Development Index results reflect Qatar's commitment to developing an advanced digital ecosystem, in line with its national vision and strategies.",
