"account": "Renowned Hollywood actor Idris Elba has initiated a filmmaking program for African creatives, leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to bolster the continent's movie industry. Funded by a $1 million contribution from Google, Elba's Akuna Group has opened applications for a one-year training and production course for filmmakers residing in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, or South Africa. Despite potential skepticism in Hollywood regarding AI technology, this initiative capitalizes on the increasing interest in AI for media and entertainment in Africa, aiming to enhance creative possibilities and address funding constraints that often hinder projects. Participants in Elba's program will retain full ownership of their films, but must have dependable internet access and consistent power supply to enroll. A British actor with roots in Ghana and Sierra Leone, Elba has spearheaded numerous programs aimed at nurturing creative industries across the continent. However, infrastructure challenges such as inadequate broadband and electricity access remain hurdles for African creators seeking to employ AI in filmmaking. Recently, an AI-generated Yoruba-language film that premiered this month encountered disappointment due to server overload during the event, highlighting the ongoing infrastructure issues in the region.",
