"summary": "Apple has announced refreshes for the iMac and the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro, both featuring the M6 chip. According to Mashable, the announcement occurred on Tuesday alongside a round of AI features for Apple Creator Studio. The M6 chip, which was previously introduced in the Mac mini, includes a dual 16-core Neural Engine and offers up to 170GB/s of memory bandwidth. Mashable reports that Apple is framing the hardware as a platform for running large language models on-device.\n\nThe M6 iMac is available in two variants. Ars Technica reports that the version with two Thunderbolt ports features a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU with a maximum of 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The version with four Thunderbolt ports provides 12 cores for both the CPU and GPU, maxing out at 32GB of RAM and 2TB of storage.\n\nThe 14-inch MacBook Pro remains largely unchanged in design, retaining its mini-LED display, keyboard, and port selection. The Register states the device will be available in silver or space black and is expected to arrive early next month. The base-model MacBook Pro comes with 16GB of unified memory and 153GB/s of bandwidth, though memory can be upgraded to 24GB or 32GB to reach 170GB/s of bandwidth. Techmeme notes that Mark Gurman of Bloomberg has reported Apple discussed a $2,899 price point for a 14-inch MacBook Pro featuring an M5 Pro chip and an OLED XDR touch screen.",
