"account": "Virginia Lee, head of cybersecurity at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), shares how she stumbled into a career in the field, finding fulfillment through technology, problem-solving, continuous learning, and diverse teamwork. She emphasizes that many successful cybersecurity professionals did not follow a linear path to the industry. Over time, cybersecurity evolved from a technical function to a critical business concern, recognized by boards as a significant risk factor impacting operations, reputation, and customer trust. As technology advanced, the role of cybersecurity professionals transformed, requiring not only technical expertise but also strong communication skills, the ability to influence decision-making, and a deep understanding of various business units. Despite a perceived skills shortage, Lee argues that the industry should focus on hiring professionals with broad skillsets and clear career pathways, rather than strictly academic backgrounds. She stresses the importance of continuous learning, mentorship, and cross-sector collaboration to build a resilient and adaptable cybersecurity workforce.",
