"account": "Egypt's parliament has approved sending military aid to Saudi Arabia to protect the kingdom from attacks by Yemen's Houthis, following President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's request. The House of Representatives voted by a two-thirds majority, with a rare secret meeting held thrice and the vote delayed twice. Sisi had previously asked parliament to authorise military support, if requested. The Social Democratic Party abstained after requesting specific objectives, information, and an assessment of risks. Sisi clarified that Egypt's support would aim to defend Saudi land and borders, not attack Yemen, prioritising a diplomatic solution. Egypt has engaged in diplomacy with Saudi Arabia since the dispute began, contributing to the Suez Canal's revenues and hosting a significant number of Egyptian workers. Egypt has a history of intervention in Yemen, joining the Saudi-led coalition in 2015. However, Egypt seems to be shifting towards diplomacy over intervention, considering the potential risks involved in supporting Saudi Arabia.",
