"account": "The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded the preliminary voters' register for the 2027 general elections online, responding to public outcry over its accessibility. The decision was announced on Monday, with the register previously displayed at registration sites nationwide from October 9 to 15. Leading opposition candidates, including presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress, had urged INEC to make the register accessible online, per electoral timelines and schedules. INEC Chairman Mohammed Kudu Haruna stated the move aimed to enhance transparency, accessibility, and public confidence in the electoral process. The online platform can be accessed via https://display.inecnigeria.org. The preliminary register complements the physical display required by Section 19 of the Electoral Act 2026, enabling voters to verify their information and submit claims or objections. INEC continues processing these claims and objections as it prepares to certify and publish the final register of voters on December 15, 2026, ahead of the 2027 general elections. The commission reaffirmed its dedication to transparency, accountability, and the accurate implementation of the Electoral Act 2026.",
