"summary": "The Trump administration is attempting to prosecute former FBI Director James Comey for the disclosure of classified information, an effort that involves bypassing a grand jury, according to PBS NewsHour.\n\nA judge ruled Monday that the administration illegally fired Maurene Comey, a Justice Department prosecutor and daughter of James Comey, in July 2025. Fortune reports that Judge Jesse M. Furman rejected the government's argument that the president holds conclusive power to fire federal prosecutors, instead finding that the termination violated constitutional principles.\n\nMaurene Comey argued her firing was due to her father being a target of the president's ire, a claim noted by Al Jazeera. Fortune reports that the judge found she had consistently received high accolades from peers and supervisors during her decade as an assistant U.S. attorney.",
