"account": "On Monday, October 26, 2026, military operations conducted under Operation Hadin Kai resulted in the deaths of 16 suspected Islamic State West Africa Province fighters in the Tunbunma area of South Lake Chad. Intelligence reports had previously identified the presence of key terrorist leaders at three suspected locations. The operation took place between 1am and 2am and involved both air and ground weapon systems. Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer for Operation Hadin Kai, confirmed that the battle damage assessment revealed 16 ISWAP fighters were neutralized. Among the deceased were Abu Zubiru, an Arab national, and his associates, Baana Nglewa and Jindullah Sadiq. Abu Saleem, the Wali of Tunbunma, sustained severe injuries alongside seven others. The military stressed that this offensive was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks in the Lake Chad Basin, reaffirming their commitment to restoring peace and normalcy through intelligence-led operations. Additionally, the military urged the public to provide timely and credible information to assist in counter-terrorism efforts. In May 2026, Operation Hadin Kai thwarted an ISWAP night attack on the 120 Task Force Battalion in Gonori, Borno State, preventing a potential threat to the region.",
