"account": "On Monday, US singer Chris Brown avoided jail time after a UK court sentenced him to an eight-month suspended term for his role in a 2023 brawl at a London nightclub. Judge Tony Baumgartner ruled that the sentence would be suspended for a year, barring Brown from prison if he remains crime-free during that period. Wearing a black face mask, sunglasses, and a black baseball cap, the 37-year-old singer entered Southwark Crown Court in London, where he had already pleaded guilty to affray in a court appearance in July. Judge Baumgartner emphasized that violence in a crowded nightclub poses a risk not only to the victim but also to others, while prosecutors alleged Brown and co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu used a glass bottle as a weapon, striking the victim's head twice. The incident occurred at Tape, a private members' club in London, on February 19, 2023, during Brown's tour of Britain. The victim, a music producer, sustained multiple injuries from the bottle attack, which was not premeditated but still deemed serious by the judge. The Metropolitan Police spokeswoman Christina Jessah stated that the attack was inexcusable and placed the man in the hospital. Brown was bailed on a £5 million guarantee in May, allowing him to continue his successful international tour, the highest-grossing of his career. Fans greeted him outside the court with cheers and cheers, with Brown posing for photos and smiling before departing in a black car. He later shared a video on Instagram, giving a thumbs-up sign from inside his vehicle. Brown's career has been marred by legal issues, including a 2009 felony conviction for assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna before the 2009 Grammy Awards. In 2012, he was involved in another altercation at a New York nightclub where a French basketball player suffered an eye injury. Two years later, Brown pleaded guilty to assaulting a fan in Washington. Akinlolu, 40, received a four-month suspended sentence for his role in the London incident.",
