"account": "The Punjab government has not yet published its ranking of the top 10 universities based on a performance-based evaluation program launched last year. This initiative sought to assess over 60 universities in Punjab and determine the top 10 most effective institutions. According to officials at the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC), the project was anticipated to cost Rs. 50 million. The rankings were intended to be refreshed each year, with the outcomes potentially affecting future funding distributions and policy choices. A professor expressed his observation that the provincial administration seemed hesitant to disclose the rankings, including the universities' scores, the evaluation standards, and the identities of the top 10 institutions. The ranking endeavor is distinct from the PHEC's ongoing initiative to establish quantifiable performance metrics for university vice chancellors. In the previous year, the commission had agreed on key performance indicators (KPIs) for heads of public sector universities, considering factors like the size and age of institutions. This framework aims to gauge university leadership through quantifiable academic and administrative achievements, encompassing research output, teaching excellence, faculty development, student success, financial stewardship, governance, and advancement of development plans.",
