"summary": "The Lotte Giants have appointed former champion Lee Dong-wook as their new manager, signing him to a three-year contract worth 2 billion won ($1.5 million). The 52-year-old, who spent his entire six-year playing career with the Giants from 1997 to 2003, received a signing bonus of 500 million won and will earn 500 million won annually. Lee, born and raised in Busan, previously coached the LG Twins and NC Dinos before becoming the Dinos' manager in 2019, leading them to their first and only Korean Series title in 2020. Despite being let go by the Dinos during the 2022 season, Lee has since served on the coaching staff for the national team. The Giants have struggled in recent years, finishing in seventh place in the 10-team KBO in each of the past three seasons under manager Kim Tae-hyoung, who was not retained after his three-year deal.",
